Welcome to 2018! I can’t believe how quickly the second half of 2017 went by…I know every blogger is starting their writing off this week with that sentiment, but it’s true! Amanda and I are officially in our second year of Lux and Vitae and loving the journey we’ve taken with our little blog.
I know personally, after immersing myself in the blogging world all year, I’ve quickly become a fan of other favourites posts, whether they’re monthly or yearly. We don’t do favourites all that much just because we have a lot of other things we write about, but I thought it would be fitting to round up some of my ultimate favourite products of 2017. These really weren’t just favourites, but products that I love, that I use each and every day, and that always give me incredible results. Check it out below!
Skin and Body Care
I’ve actually spoken about a lot of my favourite skincare products through the year, so many of them shouldn’t be a huge surprise. The first on my list is The Ordinary’s Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5, a serum that I was introduced to just before the summer. This has quickly become a staple in my skincare routine, and as I’ve said before, I credit a lot of my skin’s health to this product! Not too thick and not too thin, this sinks into the skin beautifully and hydrates so well. For the price, this is worth a try at the very least!
Another face product I’ve been obsessed with this year is Pixi’s Rose Oil Blend. I wasn’t a big fan of face oils before this, but fell in love once I started using it. Despite being an oil, this is super light and easy to use AM or PM. I typically use it before bed and in the morning, I mix a drop of it in with my day moisturizer. The other product I’ve loved this year, which I was really only introduced to last week, is Foreo’s Luna Play facial cleanser. It’s a silicone tool that vibrates and massages the face once you’ve used your favourite cleanser. I won’t say much about it because I’m planning on reviewing it in the New Year, but it made an immediate difference in the softness of my skin.
Aside from facial skincare, I’ve been loving two products for the body so much that I may have repurchased ten times each. The first is Lush’s Scrubee, which is a cult-favourite and something I finally tried in the summer. It’s a staple in my shower/skincare routine! The butters in this bar moisturize so well, and the little coconut granules buff and soften the skin. It’s amazing. I’ve talked about it a bunch so again, I won’t say much here. The other product is at the drugstore level and a moisturizer I’ve had with me for months: Vaseline Intensive Care Cocoa Radiant Moisturizer. I received a lot of side-eyes when I brought this with me to Sri Lanka because it is such a thick moisturizer, but it really did a good job at soothing my sunburnt skin. And yet, it also does a great job in the winter! Great price, works well – you just can’t beat that!
For my make-up choices for the year, I went with things that I use every single time I put make-up on without fail. For me, that isn’t a lot because I’m a natural face kind of girl. The one product that really improved the way I do make-up this year was Laura Mercier’s Radiance Foundation Primer. This stuff is magic! I use it every day, with or without make-up, and even sometimes as an eyeshadow primer. It layers beautifully underneath foundation and looks amazing on its own. It’s one of my staples!
Another product that I’ve used for ages yet haven’t mentioned is NYX’s HD Finishing Powder in Translucent. I bought this little compact probably two years ago and I’ve only just hit pan. It’s finely milled and does a good job at setting areas that become oily quickly. For the cost and considering how long it lasts, it’s so worth it. Two other face products I’ve loved are the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer in Medium/Deep and Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Paaarty. Both look amazing for a low-key make-up day and brighten up the face without looking muddy or cakey. I’ve been able to use them both in the summer when I was more tanned, and now in the winter when I’m a little paler.
The final product that I’ve relied on bigtime this year is L’Oreal’s Brow Stylist Definer in Brunette. I’m not obsessive about eyebrows, but I do like to fill mine a little just to cover bald spot. This pencil is super fine and does a good job at filling in spots without you haven’t to be perfect. For a drugstore product, it does a great job – I’m not sure if I’d be willing to buy a higher end product when this does the trick!
I’m excited to carry all of these products into the New Year and to discover some new ones to add to my routine! Have you tried any of these ones?
