We interrupt our regularly scheduled posting days to recap all the glorious fashion last night at the Emmy Awards!!! If you don’t already know this, Deanna and I live for awards shows! As long as we’ve been friends there has always been a mutual love for film and tv between us and it’s become habit for us to basically live chat everything from the red carpet arrivals to the actual show. Now we still have a few months before the other big award shows but last night we did have the Emmy’s to celebrate!

It’s been such a big year for television, I mean Game of Thrones alone–though not considered at the Emmy’s this year probably due to its late start–was incredible and some of my other favourites have been Westworld, Stranger Things, The Crown and This is Us! But before the awards started we got to look at all the fashion that graced the carpet last night! So many beautiful dresses last night it’s so hard to pick and choose! I noticed lots of bright colours and sparkle on the carpet and so I’m listing out my favourites from the night, check it out below!

Gina Rodriguez–I think Gina has a permanent spot on any of the best dressed lists I make for these shows because I swear she’s been in every fashion award show post we’ve done and last night was no exception. I don’t even know what to say except she really knows how to pick the dresses that flatter her the most and this dress is killer! From the bright red colour that makes it look like she popped up from the red carpet right there, the plunging neck line and the all the intricate details on the dress, love it! Love it all!!

Thandie Newton– This is such a lovely dress, nothing too crazy and shows that simpler dresses can still rock out on the red carpet. Such a romantic blush colour, which is literally my favourite colour, that is super flattering on her and just the right amount of train, poof and sparkle too, just sooo elegant!

Julianne Hough– Now this dress, as gorgeous as it is, is so coooool. Totally opposite of what I just said about Thandies dress above I am loving the asymmetrical neckline and all the ways the dress wraps around her and drapes beautifully down. I would have loved it even without the pink flowers but they do give it a little pop of colour that totally works in favour of the dress.

Vanessa Kirby– This colour!! I mean you already know it’s my favourite so I already love it just for that but it’s the subtle floral embellishment on the bodice that totally makes he dress. Also love the slicked back hair she’s showing off and that she went minimalistic with the jewellery letting the dress speak for itself, yas Vanessa yaaaas!

Donald Glover–This dude looked sooo dapper last night! These award shows come and go and we always look at the women to see what they show up in because how hard is it to get a suit or tux wrong? But I love to see guys change it up like this! A pop of colour can make all the difference in a look and I am here for it! Bold choice, totally worked for him and so fitting as he went on to win two awards last night, memorable get up for a memorable night!

Jessica Biel– Stunning!!! Easily the best dressed and my favourite look of the night hands down! This dress is so flattering on her, love the pop of silver paired with the soft peachover half the gown she’s seriously giving off that Emmy goddess vibe for real!

As for the awards show itself I really enjoyed Stephen Colbert as host, I thought he killed it! Particularly loved his sit down interview with Emmy and that little Westworld bit as well. Speaking of Westworld I’m a little bummed they didn’t receive more love last night but there’s always next season! My favourite part of the night easily was watching Sterling K. Brown win for best lead actor in a drama series. I literally gasped so loud and started clapping at my tv screen when they said his name but I’m equally upset that they didn’t even let him finish his speech on stage!! It was one of the last awards given and arguably one of the most anticipated of the night and they cut him off, not cool– but his speech, whatever he was able to get in was so heartfelt and if you don’t watch the show he is so good on This is Us and so deserving of that win! Now we have lots of time before all the award season hysteria returns in the new year so until then you can bet we’ll be ready to talk aaaalll about it when the time comes! Until then, did you catch the Emmy’s last night? Did your favourite show win? Let’s chat in the comments below!!

Amanda 🙂
